BRIXTON VILLAGE
In this project, we were asked to re-brand the iconic Brixton Village market and the various assets and signage of the area.
I took inspiration from the roots of the market, looking into old photographs and the history and connection of Brixton Village to the locals and the area. I used an old photograph and saturated the colours to attain my palette, keeping it as diverse as possible to represent the vibrancy and culture within Brixton Village. We visited the site for source imagery, with which I created illustrations of the produce sold at the markets, keeping the village intact with the whole reason it is there; the fantastic sellers and businesses. The different shapes were inspired by the lots within the market area - the typography inspired by local shop signage from around the market. I wanted to make sure the re-brand felt exciting, new and authentic - allowing for the locals and regulars of many years prior, as well as to come, to feel welcome and proud of the area and it's history.
